Welcome to Paul Walsh Independent Family Funerals Directors, with nearly 70 years combined experience, a family business privileged to be able to offer a professional, understanding personal service.
Paul Walsh
With 38 years of experience, I am proud to be continuing the Family tradition of working within the Funeral Profession.
I gained my Diploma with the National Association of Funeral Directors in 1989.
I gained my Higher Diploma again with the National Association of Funeral Directors in 2001 alongside a NEBS certificate in Funeral Service Management accredited by the City and Guilds, I was one of the first 8 people in the country to achieve this.
My Grandfather Stephen was a sexton (gravedigger) for over 50 years & my other Grandfather Fred was a Master Joiner specialising in making coffins in his workshop which he shared with the local Funeral Director for many years.
My youngest son said to me one morning, ‘Dad it’s all about the family isn’t it’ and how true his words are.
When you lose someone dear to you, the thought of funeral arrangements can be overwhelming; we cannot make it better but we can make it easier for you.
We cover the entire Island and are more than happy to come and see you at home in your own surroundings to make the process less daunting.

With 20 years of experience, I am proud to be following in the steps of my Great Grand Mother who spent many many years in the East End of London in the Victorian era performing ‘last offices’ for the local community.
I know from my experience that it is so important that the ladies that we care for are looked after by a female and I am in a very privileged position to be able to do that.
I want you to feel that you can talk openly with me and discuss any worries or fears that you may have concerning how your loved one will be cared for and feel confident to ask as many questions as you need to.
Paul & I personally look after everyone that comes into our care ensuring that the highest of standards are maintained at all times.
To us our main priority is caring for the deceased and you at such an important time. We feel honoured to be able to offer a personal and professional service to ensure that wishes are carried out exactly as you want them to be to help create the perfect send off.
Please always make sure when you instruct a Funeral director that you ask where your loved one will be cared for and by whom.
Please also check that the Funeral director has fully equipped premises and Funeral vehicles to carry out the service in a dignified manner as sadly there are some that have neither.
Everything that we do is focused around your wishes.
We can assure you that your loved one’s dignity will always remain; in our care.
With nearly 70 years combined experience between us, we modestly admit there is very little we don’t know about the funeral profession. Joined now by our sons, we offer a true family owned and run funeral home.
“I am in a very privileged position to be able to look after the deceased and care for them whilst they are with us and it is our ethos that people in death are treated with the utmost respect.”
– Paula
“I believe the funeral industry as a whole is losing touch with financial reality. We are a small family-run business who understand that it’s so important to ensure you have the right send off for your loved rather than worrying about finances. You should not need to have financial burden on your shoulders at your saddest time.
People are more and more frequently going into debt to bury their loved ones. It is getting to the point where people simply cannot afford to die and this has to be addressed.”
– Paul
